Periodontal Disease Periodontal disease affects millions of people, many of whom are unaware of any disease process being present. Recent studies have identified the link between periodontal problems and chronic inflammatory diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, low weight and preterm births. Our office strives to assess and diagnose any periodontal problems you may have.
Symptoms of periodontal problems include bleeding gums, swollen or receding gums, changes in tooth position or halitosis.
When indicated we have DNA testing of periodontal pathogens as well as genetic risk assessments available to assess your risk of developing periodontal disease.
We will use non-surgical therapy including scaling and root planning (a careful cleaning of the root surface to smooth the tooth root and remove bacterial toxins), localized delivery of antimicrobials, as well as host modulation therapy to restore your periodontal health.
Our goal is to achieve and maintain your periodontal health without surgical intervention. Most patients do not require any further periodontal surgery following treatment but when indicated, surgery may be needed to restore anatomy destroyed by the periodontal disease process. It is crucial for patients to continue with maintenance therapy after treatment to sustain health.
Digital Imaging The office of Drs Curtis and Sylvia Gleaton is proud to offer the latest
technology in dental radiology or "x-rays."
We are fully digital! This allows
allows you to see your images imediately on our computer screen. Our digital
radiography also has the added benefit of reducing your exposure to radiation by
two thirds as compared to conventional dental x-rays.
We also use tiny oral cameras that capture and keep pictures of your teeth
and mouth. You will then be able to see these on our computer screens just as
the doctors see your mouth and teeth.
Using these tools we can easily walk you through your proposed treatment in a
way that you can actually see for yourself.
We invite you to come in and experience the latest technology in dental
x-rays and intra-oral photographs.
